What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is often confused with graphic art. Although a design project often incorporates art, "Graphic Design" is simply the process of creating a layout for something that will either be printed or used in some other media presentation (web, video, etc.). The concept sounds simple, but there is also a tremendous amount of work that goes into making sure everything is lined up properly and meets industry standard specs.

The process also includes scanning photographs and artwork that you provide and inserting text. Simple design techniques such as making borders and inserting background shapes (like making a light gray rectangle appear behind a text block) are also included. Note: images that require touch-ups or significant photo restoration may raise the cost of graphic design. Please see Rates for more information.

Graphic Design does not, however, include the creation of original artwork. This is a totally independent service that we offer and there are no set rates. Please visit our Original Artwork page for more details.

  Software That We Use:

We use up-to-date versions of all the industry standard software including programs by Adobe and Microsoft (and countless other utilities by various companies). We also have support for QuarkXPress.

  What is a "Panel?"

Over and over, you will see the word "panel" on this page when speaking of designs for jewel case inserts.

In case you didn't know: A "panel" is one page of a Jewel Case Insert. The diagram to the left shows an 8-Page accordian fold. The front page with the "R" is an example of a panel.
