Location recording (or often called remote recording) is bringing a recording studio to a venue. Live concerts, as well as session recordings of many groups, have to be done on location. Orchestras, wind ensembles, choirs and many other ensembles sound much better in a concert hall, or church setting, rather than a studio setting. Although many Jazz or Rock groups would get a better recording in a controlled studio session, the performance and energy of a live concert sometimes cannot be re-created in the studio thus a live recording would be desired.
